Dave Moody, President, Summit Natural Gas of Missouri
Dave is a highly experienced senior manager in operations of natural gas with more than 20 years’ experience. Dave began his natural gas career in March 1978, in an entry level position with Peoples’ Natural Gas in Garden City, Kansas. Dave’s early experience was as a technician performing many customer service activities, including all sizes of residential, commercial and industrial services, and utility compliance activities. He quickly advanced in his career entering management in 1985. Dave continued his management career at Peoples until 1996 when he became a sales manager with Aquila Energy Marketing. In 1998, he was appointed Director of Operations for Peoples Natural Gas in Colorado.
In 2001, Dave joined Summit Utilities, Inc. in Colorado as a District Manager in the Northern District. At the time, Summit served 1,300 customers. Dave has helped it grow to over 20,000 customers including new properties in Missouri.
In 2005 Dave assumed duties as Vice President of Operations which included supervision of all the Customer Service and Field Operations personnel in Colorado and Missouri, setting safety principles, serving as a member of the gas purchasing committee, and serving as compliance and policy lead. Dave has helped create new O&M, safety, emergency, transmission/distribution integrity, public awareness, and Demand Side Management plans as well as recommending changes to applicable tariffs.
Martha Wankum, Regulatory Manager
Martha holds a Master of Arts Degree in Public Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Westminster College in Fulton, Mo. Formerly, she served in various regulatory and governmental affairs positions with the State of Missouri including the Missouri Senate Appropriations Committee, Legislative Coordinator for the Missouri Department of Revenue and the Missouri Public Service Commission.
Rick Porter, Environmental Health and Safety Manager
Mr. Porter spent 25 years working for the nation’s second largest natural gas pipeline company in the areas of operation of pipeline construction safety and gas distribution. Mr. Porter accepted a position as Safety Superintendent/Loss Prevention Manager for an Iowa-based company building ethanol plants throughout North America and managed a team of 17 safety inspectors on a .5 billion dollar project in Northern Iowa.
Rick became the Regional Director of Operations and Training for a privately-owned safety company and relocated to southwest Missouri teaching a variety of OSHA courses for various companies in Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Later he was appointed the Construction Safety Superintendent / Project Manager on a 254 million dollar expansion project in central Illinois.
Before coming to Summit Utilities, Mr. Porter served as the Director of Training and Safety Development for the Safety Council of the Ozarks and is widely recognized as a trainer for OSHA’s 500 & 501 courses as well as The National Safety Council’s programs Defensive Driving, DOT Flagger, POSH, SMT, STM, SSDP, CPR/AED and the new HIRA program for U.S. Steel.
Mr. Porter holds the Advance Safety Certificate (ASC) and was appointed the instructor for the Certified Safety and Health Specialist (CSHS) for Missouri State University. Mr. Porter and his wife, Becky, reside in the Branson, Missouri area and are the parents/grandparents of 5 children and 16 grandchildren.
